How do I unsubscribe from the Gospel Hall Forum?

Unsubscribing is a two-step process.

1. Go to the member options login page:
     http://ghforum.org/mailman/options/ghf_ghforum.org

    In the box labelled "Email address:", enter the email address that you would like to
    unsubscribe from the forum.  No need to enter a password in the next box.  Click the
    'unsubscribe' button in the next session. 

2. By clicking on the "Unsubscribe" button, a confirmation message will be emailed to you. The
    message will have a URL that you can go to in order to complete the removal process. (There
    will also be instructions on how to confirm your unsubscribe request by email.)

This confirmation step ensures that only you or the administrator can remove you from the forum.

How do I find my subscriber password?

Go to the member options login page:
     http://ghforum.org/mailman/options/ghf_ghforum.org

In the box labelled "Email address:", enter the email address that you would like to unsubscribe from the forum.  No need to enter a password in the next box.  Click the 'remind' button in the "Password reminder" section. 

• Send an email to the GHF using the email address .
• Ensure that your email has a subject.
• Attachments are not allowed - do not include files (eg. pdf, doc), photos, or hyperlinks.
• Ensure that your closing includes your name, assembly name, and location (city, prov/state, country - remember this is a world-wide forum!)

How long before I see my posting?

In order to ensure the integrity of the forum, we have enabled 'moderation' for all users.  After you've sent a posting to the forum, it will be held temporarily until the moderator reviews the posting.

We try to approve postings within 12 hours (and often it is much less) however there are three main reasons why your posting may be delayed:

• Our server is limited to one (1) outgoing message per hour.  If a number of postings arrive for moderation at the same time, we can only approve one, and then have to wait 1 1/2 hours to send the next posting.

• Postings are not necessarily sent out in the order that they are received.  Postings of a time-sensitive nature (eg. funeral notices, event or meeting cancellations, etc.) are approved first with all other messages being sent after.

• There is one person performing moderation tasks.  Sometimes 'life' can interfere with the ability to provide this service at the level we strive to achieve and as a result, postings can be delayed.

If you are still concerned about not yet seeing your posting come through the forum, feel free to contact the administrator to see if the email is still pending approval.

Why was my posting rejected?

Postings may be rejected by the moderator for various reasons.  Please make yourself familiar with the Gospel Hall Forum Guidelines to avoid having this happen. 

The rejection notice that you receive should include a reason for the rejection.  Examples include:

• Posting included attachments (eg. .pdf or .doc files), photos, or hyperlinks
• Posting did not include a subject
• Author's information (name, assembly, location) was not included in the closing
• Posting did not meet the guidelines of the GHF

If your posting was rejected for one of the first three reasons above, please feel free to correct the posting and resend it to the forum for re-consideration.

Please note that as a private email forum, the moderating committee reserves the right to reject any posting that is not in the best interest of subscribers in Gospel Hall assembly fellowship.

Why am I not receiving emails from the GHF?

There are a number of reasons that your emails may have stopped - unfortunately, most of them are out of our control.

If you were a subscriber and your emails have recently stopped:

• Check to see if you are still subscribed.  Sometimes, for various reasons, emails from the forum will 'bounce back' from your email server.  The forum software is set to automatically send a subscription confirmation to that email address and if no response is received within a specific time period, the subscription is cancelled.
  To check if you are still subscribed, visit the forum info page: http://ghforum.org/mailman/listinfo/ghf_ghforum.org
  In the "Existing Subscribers" section enter your subscribed email address into the box beside the "Unsubscribe or edit options" button and then press that button.  If you are taken to your user options page (GHF mailing list membership configuration for [your email address]), then you are still subscribed - continue to the next point.  If you are not still subscribed, contact the administrator and request that your email be re-subscribed to the forum.
• If you have verified that your email is subscribed, ensure that mailman-bounces@ghforum.org is added to your email's address book.  There are too many email programs to cover here so if you are unsure how to do this, please contact your service provider.
  Also check to make sure that the messages have not been put in your 'spam' or 'trash' folders automatically by email program.
• If you are still not receiving messages, contact the GHF administrator and ask to have your account rebooted.  Like rebooting a computer, removing and re-adding an account from the subscription list will sometimes fix the problem.  We will also verify your account at this time to see if there are any settings that are causing an issue.
• If you are still not receiving messages after a 'reboot', our only other recourse is to subscribe a different email for you.  You can do this yourself by logging into the user options (as described above), entering a "New address" and then entering "Again to confirm" and then clicking the "Change my Address and Name" button.

If you have recently subscribed to the forum but have not yet received any postings:

1. Did you complete both subscription forms?  Both pages must be completed or else the subscription request is discarded.  If you did not, please go back to the subscription page and fill out both forms again.  If you did, continue to step 2.
2. Did you click on the confirmation link that was sent to you in the email.  This link activates your subscription request.  Each link is only good for a short period of time (approx. 48hrs) so you will likely need to fill out the forms again and ensure that you click on the link when it arrives in your email box.  If you clicked on the confirmation link, continue to step 3.
3. It can take up to 10 days for the moderating committee to look at a subscription request and make a decision.  If it has been longer than this, please contact the GHF administrator.
